Make It! Fruity Pizza!

Who doesn’t love pizza?! Here’s a fun and colorful twist. This is also a great way to introduce new fruits to your child! The more colors and shapes, the better! (And exclamation marks!!!!)

We hope you enjoy making our simple healthier fruit option. You can even make a silly face!

MATERIALS NEEDED

  • Watermelon and any kind of fruit.
  • Packaged fruit cups work great too!
  • Sweet additions can be chocolate chips or marshmallows
  • Anything you want, really 😉

STEP 1:

Have your parent help you cut one slice of watermelon. Slice bananas and any other fruit.

STEP 2:

Be creative and decorate your fruity pizza.

Pinterest Gone Wild!

Preschool Teacher Edna and Staff are crazy about crafts. Preschool projects have become even more creative and awesome since the introduction of Pinterest, the social online tool for collecting and organizing your items of interest. Staff perused the pages of Pinterest only to find this incredibly innovative use for plastic milk jugs! With the help of a local Peet’s Coffee, they were able to commandeer the 400 or so jugs needed to create this project, while alleviating the coffee shop of some major recycling.

Armed with milk jugs, hot glue guns and plenty of kidpower, our crew went to work on constructing the igloo. The staff handled the hot glue guns and the children helped to wash and deliver jugs, screw on tops and place jugs, all while learning a little bit about construction, physics and math.

Polliwogers Moving to the Beat!

While many of you have been stuck at the office, our preschool-aged Polliwogers have been hard at work enjoying the sun! Well, except for Monday and Tuesday when we had an abnormal weather pattern which sent our campers to Red Morton Center. But rest assured, our staff made the BEST of it, and on Wednesday, they resumed at Stulsaft Park!

This week, Camp Polliwog‘s  “Moving to the Beat” theme resulted in many COOL musical instruments during craft time. Today they flexed their creative muscles by crafting awesome banjos out of granola bar boxes, paint sticks, rubber bands and decorated them. They also created tamborines, maracas, rainsticks and domoroo drums!

Our camp activities revolve around a theme each week. This week’s activities included storytimes, games, musical obstacle courses, exploring hands-on musical instruments, freeze dance, and a lot of camp-song-singing!  Also, on Fridays we play in the creek – which is a highlight of the week.
